NATIONALS BOUND:  VASQUEZ 2ND AT TEXAS PREP STATE

Years of sacrifice, hard work, and dedication are paying off for Zachary Vasquez (11th).  On February 2nd, Vasquez finished 2nd in the Texas Prep State Wrestling Championships hosted by St. Mark’s School of Texas in Dallas.  This tournament includes all TAPPS, SPC, and other independent private schools.  Competing in a very deep 160 lbs weight class, Vasquez lost a heartbreaking match in the finals to a returning multi-time state champion and two-time All-American.  Many fans and coaches considered Vasquez’s championship match to be the most intense and exciting bout of the tournament.  Vasquez has now qualified for the prestigious National Prep Wrestling Championships later this month at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.  Logan Dorazio (9th), competing at 220 lbs, fought hard picking up another win this season going 1-2 at the tournament.  Blake Trevino (10th) gave a solid effort but ended the day 0-2 in the 132 lbs weight class.  With Vasquez earning a berth in the Texas Prep State finals this year, a SACS wrestler has now competed in a championship bout for the fifth consecutive year.

Good Luck at Nationals!
