Boys Varsity Wrestling · Prep State Champion and Most Outstanding Wrestler!

The SACS Lions Grapplers wrestled this past weekend at the Texas Prep State Tournament, hosted by St. Thomas High School in Houston. Zachary Vasquez (12) was the 170 lb. Champion, and made history for SACS by being voted on by the head coaches as “The Most Outstanding Wrestler” in the Heavy Weight Division from 152-285 lbs. Zachary went 3-0 and only surrendered 1 point throughout the entire tournament. He has now qualified for the 2nd time to participate in National Prep Tournament held at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in late February.   He is currently ranked 8th nationally in Prep Wrestling and just signed his letter of intent to wrestle at Norwich University.

Nate Crawford (9) gave a strong performance going 2-2 and was 1 win away from medaling.   Joshua Torres (9) had two heart breaking losses after he had a convincing lead until the third period in both matches.  For both Crawford and Torres this was their first varsity tournament and they represented San Antonio Christian School with dignity and courage.

The SACS Lion wrestlers will put their efforts to the test at the TAPPS State Tournament on February 15, 2020.
